It’s a dog’s (and kid’s) life by Barry Edwards

Curley was my best friend growing up, an outdoor mutt with a matted coat of fur and the nine lives of a cat. I grew up on a deadend street that poured us kids, and Curley, out onto the railroad tracks and forests and swamps that lie beyond.

Curley could never get enough. I believe every kid should have a dog – they get us outside and teach us the fun that lies in the simple things like exploring, playing hide and seek, wading through streams and falling through the ice into the swamp over and over again.
