Divot’s Frisbee Frenzy by Hava Bailey

by Linda Coors on October 5, 2011

My dog Divot has a unique way of playing Frisbee. He chases it normally at first, but then he runs away with it! The fast, fun chase begins! We both come alive! He is five times faster than I am, so it is really hard to catch him. He goes through the mud, so I go through the mud. I always fall in the mud at least three times. I get up covered from head to toe in smooth, slimy, black mud, but still I keep chasing him. He goes through the stick pile. I go through the stick pile. I come out with sticks in my hair, and I still keep running. He leaps into his plastic kiddie pool. I leap into the plastic pool. I slip on the wet bottom. By the time I stand back up, he’s half way across the yard again. Now he’s getting tired. He drops the Frisbee and rolls over, belly up. Sometimes, this is a trick. If I walk up to him, he picks the Frisbee up and starts running again. Other times, he lets me come up and rub his belly. Then I get a treat and call him inside. Even though he’s tired, he comes running into the house for a taste of bacon treat. Finally, he curls up at the top of the couch and falls asleep. Tomorrow, we’ll do it all over again.
