Creating Bird Feeders for Your Backyard

by Linda Coors on May 16, 2012

The National Audubon Society has a great website with ideas for teaching through the use of nature. One of the best ways to learn about birds is to set up bird feeders and then begin observing the ones who come to eat at the feeder. Some simple feeders that you can set up on your own include the following:

  • Pine Cone Feeder
  • Citrus Feeder
  • Bagel Feeder
  • Cranberry-Popcorn Feeder
  • Suet Feeder
  • Milk or Juice Carton Feeder

For instructions on how to make any of these feeders and tips on feeding birds, read Audubon’s article “Backyard bird feeders.”
