Lurvey Landscape Supply reports that Scarecrow Fest on October 5-6, 2013, was a great success! Actually, they said that it was the best one ever. The weather was beautiful on both Saturday and Sunday. The crowd was steady, the parking lot was full and everyone was having fun.
Businesses and communities often wonder how they can create and hold their own events. Read below for what Lurvey Landscape Supply did, and it will give you some great ideas for creating an event in your community.
There was the train, the petting zoo, the ponies, the food, scarecrow making and much more. If that did not wear you out, there were bouncy houses and even square dancing.
They had a live DJ broadcasting from the Unilock display. They played music for all ages, walked among the crowd and promoted everything there was to do. Also, new this year they added pumpkin decorating, which was a big hit.
Have you ever played money grab? Grabbing blowing coupons for prizes was new and very popular (for Wendy’s Frosties, free popcorn and little prizes).
To fit in with the Come Alive Outside theme, they set up a lawn to play games on, like bag toss and more. Volunteers were there giving out books of games to play and promoting how “Everybody wins when someone goes outside.” The sod was rolled back up on Monday and donated to a project headed up by O’Brien Landscaping.
