Job Title: Summer Program Leader
Duration: May 27th – September 2nd, Mondays and Thursdays
Hours: Mondays 3:00-6:30 PM, Thursdays 3:00-6:30 PM, 3 additional hours (flexible time)
Location: Mondays – Baxter Street Park, Thursdays – Meadow Street Park; Other: Rutland
OfficePay: $19-$21/hour

Overview:
This summer Come Alive Outside will be hosting free play programs for children 5+ at Baxter and Meadowstreet Parks. The goal of these free play programs is to encourage children and their families to spend more time outdoors and get them excited about games/activities that they can continue to do on their own without needing a lot of materials or supplies. Types of activities will include chase games, scavenger hunts, nerf battles, arts and crafts, nature
activities, ball games and more!
As a Summer Program Lead, you will play a pivotal role in planning and running the Northwest Neighborhood Play Program. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to blend
program planning, community outreach, and administrative tasks while amplifying outdoor
equity in a fast-paced and thriving nonprofit environment.
Responsibilities:
Northeast Neighborhood Play Program (10 Hours a Week)
● Coordination and Execution: Aid in the coordination, execution, and evaluation of the
Northeast Neighborhood Play Program, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to
program objectives.
● Program Leadership: Co-lead the Northeast Neighborhood Play program with
additional volunteers and staff on Mondays from 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM at Baxter Street
Park; Thursdays from 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM at Monsignor Thomas Connor Park. Must be
able to arrive at the parks by 3:00 PM to set up and stay until 6:30 PM.
● Planning Assistance: Dedicate 3 hours of planning and/or assisting Come Alive
Outside (CAO) with additional summer program activities.
Qualifications:
● Organizational and Communication Skills: Strong organizational and communication
skills.
● Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Detail-Oriented: Good time management skills and attention to detail.
● Community Engagement: Interest in community engagement, outdoor activities, and
working with youth.
● Technical Proficiency: Ability to use gmail, google drive, and to make simple
documents in docs or word.
Additional Qualifications:
Age Requirement: Must be 16 years or older.
● Experience: Experience working with children is preferred.
● Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with diverse
groups of youth and their families.
● Flexibility: Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate different interests and age
groups.
● Game Knowledge: Knowledge of simple games, crafts, and activities that children can
learn and repeat on their own without needing a lot of supplies.
● Transportation: Car not required, but must have consistent and reliable transportation
to the Come Alive Outside downtown office and to the park programs.
● Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check to work with children.
Location:
● Community Engagement: 3⁄4 of time out in the community.
● Office Work: 1⁄4 of time in the Rutland Office.
