Design Challenge
About The Program
The Come Alive Outside Design Challenge creates the opportunity for college, high school, elementary and preschool students to work together with landscape professionals to design and build natural schoolyards and playspaces in communities across North America!
2020 Design Challenge
Facilitated by Come Alive Outside’s founding Director Andy Paluch, Come Alive Outside held its FIRST EVER Virtual Design Challenge on October 29th and 30th of this year.
Due to COVID-19 the Design Challenge had to work a little bit differently this year, but the outcome was the same: People of all ages working together to design nature back into our lives!
Teams of post-secondary landscape design students worked together with younger students and design professionals to design a new natural schoolyard!
This year teams of designers worked together remotely with the students, teachers and parents at St. Michael Catholic and Nicholson Catholic College to design a nature-rich schoolyard in Belleville, ON.
There has never been a more important time for all generations to work together to create nature-rich spaces where we live work and play.
We will continue to post updates as the winning design is selected!
A special thanks to Andy Paluch, Lissa Schoot-Uiterkamp, and the Wentworth team for their stellar work on delivering an engaging and awesome Virtual Design Challenge!
